Formats for Contributions

The scientific program will consist of:

Proposals:

Oral presentation
This format will allow offering an individual oral presentation. These presentations will grouped in thematic panels according to the similarity of the contents allowing time for discussion. The oral presentations grouped in panels of a maximum of four (4) people will have a maximum duration of 1½ hours. Each participant will have 15 minutes to give their presentation. The remaining time will be used to introduce the speakers and for questions and discussion.

International symposium
This format requires subjecting to review presentations of original work related to a project, or theme from different continents / countries. This format requires a coordinator/chair for the activity. The person chairing this activity must identify speakers who come from at least three or more continents / countries. S/he will submit a global abstract together with individual abstracts of the respective presentations that will be part of the panel. Each abstract will be evaluated on its own merits. Each panel will have from three to five speakers with a maximum duration of 1½ hours. At least 30 minutes must be allocated for the question & discussion session.

Thematic panel
This format will allow subjecting various presentations of original work related to a project or theme from one single country in the same panel. This format requires a coordinator/chair. The person who chairs this activity must submit a global abstract together with individual abstracts of the respective presentations that will be part of the panel. Each abstract will be evaluated on its own merits. Each panel will have from three to five speakers with a maximum duration of 1½ hours including at least 30 minutes for the question & discussion session.

Interactive posters
This format will allow offering a visual presentation in poster form. During these sessions, the authors will be present to talk informally with the public about their work.

Roundtables
This format will allow discussion of a theme or topic in an informal manner. This format will allow the speakers to share their work with other colleagues with a greater level of interaction. The speakers should give a presentation that does not exceed 15 minutes and then facilitate the discussion. We recommend preparation of a list of key questions for the discussion. The roundtables will have a maximum duration of one hour.

Interdisciplinary debates
This format is the same as the roundtables but the participants are experts from different disciplines that deal with a theme.

Workshops
This format consists of a practical experience concentrating on the development or reinforcement of skills relevant for community professionals. The workshops will link research & intervention techniques that the audience members can implement once back in the workplace. They will have an emphasis on participation that must be evident in the submitted proposal. The workshops will have a duration of 2 hours.

Visual / creative expositions
This format consists of a contribution that uses one or more audiovisual/artistic (e.g. photo or painting exhibition) or video (e.g. development of a documentary as a means of intervention) media. The presentations will have a duration of 1 to 2 hours depending on the needs of the presenter. Independently of the duration of the presentation a minimum of 20 minutes must be allocated exclusively for the question & discussion session.

Innovative sessions
This format consists of offering the opportunity to use new media to promote interaction and exchanges among the participants. Each proposal will be considered on its innovative nature. The sessions will have a maximum duration of 1 hour.

Book presentations
The authors of recent books (from the last two years) introduce their works. Three authors will be grouped per session, according to the topic of their books and the session will have a maximum duration of 1 hour. The books cannot be sold at the session.

 

Invited activities:

Keynote addresses
These will be presentations of a maximum of 45 minutes by a person of recognized prestige in one of the themes of the conference. They will be invited by the organizers and there will be a maximum of 4 speakers in the activity. As far as possible they will represent different geographical areas of the world and both genders.

International symposium by invitation
The symposia will include three or four presentations related to a project, or theme from different continents/countries. They will be determined by the organizers of the Conference in accordance with its central themes. They should present an applied or theoretical issue from different perspectives. There will be two invited symposia of 1½ hours duration with 30 minutes for questions and discussion.

Conversational hour
These are meetings with the people who present the keynote addresses or participated in the invited symposia. It provides a place for contact with students or other colleagues to share experiences. These sessions will have a maximum duration of one hour.
